"The Hierophant" was commissioned by The Hive Gallery is Los Angeles as part of their annual tarot card show. I was selected to create my own version of the Hierophant (also known as the High Priest or the Pope). In sticking with my style, I chose to represent the priest figure with an octopus. Some symbolism includes; the crossed keys, representing the keys to heaven or in some interpretations, the conscious and subconscious mind; the triple sceptre in his left hand and the three-tiered crown symbolize the three worlds; the two pillars symbolizing law and liberty or obedience and disobedience, depending on the interpretation. The original painting is an 11” x 14” and was created in December of 2017 and is sold.
