"Beneath the Surface: Part 1" was inspired by the underground network of communication among trees in a forest as well as with fungi and other organisms. This piece is part 1 of a series of "trees" which are not really trees, but in the case of Part 1, the tree-like structures are based on a type of sponge. The neural network underneath represents the parallels to the nervous systems we see in ourselves and other animals. The original painting was completed in June of 2018. It is a 5" x 7" acrylic on canvas and is sold.
